Apex Building Roofing and Maintenance specialises in installing and repairing a wide variety of slate roofs. We work with both natural and man-made slate, ensuring the best solution for your property’s needs.
For natural slate, there are two primary options:
Welsh Slate: Known for its high quality, Welsh slate is often the preferred choice for older properties or projects that involve conservation areas or historic buildings. When installed by a skilled team, Welsh slate can last up to 100 years, making it a highly durable option.
Spanish Slate: While more affordable than Welsh slate, Spanish slate may not offer the same longevity or weathering ability. It is a cost-effective choice, but its lifespan is generally shorter than that of Welsh slate.
Man-made slate combines ground natural slate with resin, producing a lighter and larger tile. This reduces the need for reinforcement in the underlay and offers an eco-friendly, recyclable option. For those not restricted to using natural slate, man-made slate is a practical and budget-friendly alternative.
Tiled roof

Another option is a reinforced felt membrane, suitable for warm or cold roof installations, as well as refurbishing existing flat roofs. This system is durable enough for foot traffic and offers a more cost-effective alternative to fibreglass.
We also offer a single-ply membrane system, ideal for fast-paced and budget-conscious projects. This durable material is resistant to the elements and can support green roof installations.
